50th Anniversary Gala Dinner Celebration

Dear Friends and Supporters,



The New York City Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums will be holding their 50th

Anniversary Gala Dinner Celebration on September 15th, 2012 at CitiField. We are trying to make this a

very special event in light of the fact that only a few of our founding members are still with us today. We

are seeking support from you and/or your company as a sponsor of our 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner

Celebration. We hope you will be able to join us for a full-filled night that will include a cocktail hour on

the infield and a special performance by the Band.



The New York City Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums was started in 1962 with

the idea that it would foster and develop a greater appreciation for Irish music, particularly bagpipes, and

to encourage the preservation of Irish culture and traditions. The Band has played in many states ranging

from California to Georgia and internationally, in the United Kingdom and Europe. The Band played its

first performance with only seventeen members; today it is made of over ninety members and plays over

two hundred events a year, including weddings, wreath-laying ceremonies, plaque dedications, funerals,

parades, and fundraisers for charitable organizations. The Band makes a special effort to perform for

charitable organizations such as The Wounded Warrior Project, Wings Over Wall Street, and the Special

Olympics, amongst others.



Our proudest achievements came after 9/11/2001 when it was decided that there would be

representation from the Band at all 343 FDNY members' funerals. We were honored to perform this

solemn duty in order to show support for the families. This was no easy task, with members sometimes

playing twelve to fifteen funerals a day making sure no family went un-served. It was selfless acts such as

this that are common to the New York City Fire Department Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, and it is

what makes this band so special.



Within this folder there is a sponsorship page with contribution opportunities ranging from $5,000$

50,000. Also enclosed is a more extensive list of charitable organizations we have served, journal page

sponsorship opportunities, and a brief history of the Band. If you wish to make a contribution as an

individual or corporation, we would gratefully accept your support.
