9-11: It's not about hate. . . Its about Love:
The Sun was bright un-cloud covered; the streets worm; a rememberance of the just ended summer when a cloud of hate was cast upon the nation. . . .
Within minutes of the first strike houndreds of firefighters were responding to the scene. Before the shock of the attack had worn off, the worst case scenario became fact as a second plane hit the south tower. Now more than 400 firefighters from across the city rushed to the scene of the double 5th alarm assignment. Engine and truck companies darted through traffic, rescue and squad companies speed down Avenues; gear laden firefighters clime stair after stair to face their daunting task, the rescue of thousands of people. They didn't care Christen, Jew or Muslim; white, black, asian. . . they were humanity.
Shortly before 10 a.m. the south tower collapsed. The once worst case scenario paled in comparison as over 200 firefighters died in 18 seconds. Then the north tower fallowed bringing the total to 343 firefighters and countles other rescuers, police, ems, building engineers and floor fire wardens who had stayed to help get everyone out, were killed.
Can the hate of ninteen men overshadow the love for humanity of houndreds?
So be sad today for the scar is still as fresh as the scab of construction along West Street and the gap in the skyline. But tomorrow, and all the tomorrows untill the next year's 9-11, strive to deserve their love, their humanity.
After that fatefull day I was allowed, NO, honored to stand with these firefightes, at the site, at their stations and with their families. . . yet still I struggle every day to be worthy, to deserve but I fail so easily, so frequently. . . .Tomorrow I will strive again....
Today is not about hate; today is about love.
We have moved forward, but we have not forgotten.
Love and peace to you all...I'am so grateful to have been able to have my son play with you for the past two years...we will be there yet again tomorrow evening !
God Bless .

I was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, and now live near Savannah, Ga. I had the opportunity to go to the St Patrick's Day Parade in New Orleans last Saturday. When I saw the FDNY coming along the route, I was as proud as if I were born in New York. I clapped and cheered and all of a sudden one very handsome Fire Fighter came over and gave me a kiss.....the only thing that could have been better would have been a kiss from Robert DeNiro. Thank your entire group for making my trip to NOLA unforgettable! Please send me an address so I can make a contribution. Connie
Sorry for the loss of another FDNY member due to 9/11 complications. See you this September.
God bless you all

THANK YOU! How nice was it that the whole band was at Rory's funeral yesterday. All I can remember thinking at that moment was, "Thank You for providing us with such a beautiful funeral service for our little cousin Rory". Thank you, for showning our family throughout the whole process AGAIN what an amazing group of men you are.
Dear Pipe and Drum band,
Thank you for honoring our church, the Harrington & Hawco families with your Drum Major "Liam Flaherty" and his thundering welcome to all of those who shared the sacrament of his cousin's marriage in Cruz Bay St. John U.S.V.I. on June 26th 2010.
It is a true blessing to see the bonds of family celebrated in our church.
